Pine Mountain Park/Pine Mountain Trails ~ Cloudy, Oklahoma

Article: January 2016

So have you ever heard of Cloudy, Oklahoma?   I had not, until we decided to head up there and try out Pine Mountain ATV Park.       They have over 1,700 acres of trails with RV, camping spots and several cabins available for rent.

We made the drive in at night so we were unsure how the roads would be since we were in the Motorhome pulling a trailer with the side by sides.  The road getting into the park was typical of most parks we have gone to so we took it slow and didn’t have any problems getting in.  We had called ahead for reservations so we were able to stay together with the others in our group in an area that had electric hook-ups.

The park owners were some of the nicest that we have ever encountered.      Tom, the owner, even made a point to come and talk with us personally Sunday morning to ask if our group had a good time and how we liked the park.   WOW!  That just shows how much they really care!

It was the best of both worlds riding here because we thought we would simply be trail riding but our jeans were wet within the first twenty minutes of the ride. I guess we could have opted to go around the water and mud but going through it always seems to be more fun.      This park has a great variation of trails and we encountered everything from wooded trails with sand, to rocks and mud.

We had a small group for this ride and had a mix of 3 side by sides and 2 four wheelers.  We had a great time riding with an awesome group of friends and as usual had the great pleasure of making some new friends out on the trails.   I was so impressed with one couple we met from Texas who had just recently gone out and bought their first side by side.    Their kids were grown and this was a great way for them to get away on the weekends with friends and have fun.    His wife had loved riding so much that they went out and bought a 2nd new SXS just for her and this trip was her first weekend to try it out solo.        They were with a large group of about 7 other couples and looked like they were having just as much fun as we were.

The trails seemed to be marked and night riding was allowed.  We found ourselves lost in the dark at one point so dropping a location pin beforehand is always a good idea as a back-up.   It was a very cold weekend in January when we were here so there was a frost covering the ground when I walked outside early Saturday morning.  Right next to our camp there was a group of deer grazing outside.   I would love to see this place in the spring when the scenery is green and full of wildflowers or in the fall when the leaves are changing.

This was a great ATV park for some nice trail riding and a laid back time with friends.

Campfire, trails, beautiful scenery, some mud here and there, good friends ~ good time!
