Back Forty Magazine
Back Forty Magazine is a FREE online magazine about the social aspect and lifestyle of ATV and Side-by-Side Riding, Boating, RVing and many other adventures that can exist somewhere in those unique places we like to think of as the Back Forty.
Urbandictionary.com defines "The Back Forty' as a beloved American idiom. In the US, 1 township is 36 square miles (6 miles by 6 miles). Each square mile (a section of land) is divided into 16 subdivisions of 40 acres (1/4 mile by 1/4 mile)-- so a quarter section is 160 acres, a common unit of ownership in the early days of farming. The quarter-section farmer would own two 'front 40s' and two 'back 40s"
Simply put ~referring to the farthest forty acre section of the farm… secluded, at first glance doesn’t seem to have much going on. My Dad used to refer to “somewhere in the back forty” as the area less traveled, not quite as easy to reach…. You know, in the middle of nowhere or off the beaten path. He would have a cow missing from the rest of the herd and tell me we would go take a look out in the Back Forty to see what we could find. Now back then as a kid, I was excited just to find a big bunch of wild flowers in shades of vibrant orange and purple to take home to mom… but now days I find that often times this kind of place is where you find the hidden gems, the most interesting people and in my opinion where I always end up having the most fun. That is what BACK FORTY MAGAZINE IS ALL ABOUT. It's a Life Style...
I love a good club or a nice restaurant but sometimes you can have the greatest time in the middle of no where . A great group of friends, good music, ~ and sometimes an occasional cocktail is all that is needed to have some fun Somewhere in the Back Forty. You never know when you may meet new friends, build a great bonfire or hang out with thousands of people who love a great Mud Park.
Whether its riding Side by Sides, being out in the boat or finding the perfect little hole in the wall while travelling across the country in the RV ~We often find ourselves somewhere out in the Back Forty and no matter where we end up it always makes for a fun and interesting time.
Work hard, play hard is something we have always said. I’ve seen people work so hard their entire lives that they simply forget to stop and make time for fun “or” they plan to wait and save some "fun adventures" once they retire one day and sadly for a multitude of reasons that day may not ever come because so many things can happen along the way.
So seize the moment and enjoy the LITTLE THINGS along the way because you may look back one day and "those moments" end up being your greatest memories.
Love your friends like family and be the guy at the bar that takes time to talk to strangers, hear their story, laugh and enjoy life because happiness is fleeting and we have to enjoy the little things where we can.
